A.M. Nuggets: Robert Randolph Tours For Habitat; Foo Fighters Tour Rider
The newly-married Robert Randolph isn't taking too much time off for the honeymoon - he and the Family Band are firing up the bus for a full Summer and Fall of touring. The band is opening for Eric Clapton on a string of dates starting next Thursday at New Jersey's PNC Center. Then he's got a prime spot on the Bonnaroo schedule with something called Robert Randolph's Revival - we're still not sure what that's all about.
The latest announcement from the band is about a Fall tour - this one's for a good cause. Called Music Builds, the tour will benefit Habitat For Humanity with proceeds benefiting each local Habitat chapter along the tour. Randolph's tourmates on Music Builds surprised us a bit - Third Day, Switchfoot and Jars of Clay are the other bold-face names on the bill. Full tour dates and ticket pre-sale info here.
The Foo Fighters are also in the news, as The Smoking Gun got their hands on the Foo's tour rider. In typical Dave Grohl fashion there's plenty here to smile about - including a plea for vegetarian soup options backstage (because "Meaty soups make roadies fart"). Good to know, but why do they then ask for "Big ass kielbasas that make men self conscious" and "Any sort of tubed meats"? Sounds like they're tempting fate. One thing we can definitely get behind is the request for lots of bacon, which Grohl calls "God's currency." Can't argue with that!
