A.M. Nuggets: VH1 Honors The Who; Raconteurs Headline Treasure Island
VH1 has decided to dedicate this year's entire Rock Honors awards show to one band: The Who. Citing that band's unparalleled influence on rock music as we know it, the channel has recruited Pearl Jam, the Foo Fighters and the Flaming Lips to perform at the event. Each band will cover classic tracks from The Who, before giving up the stage for a performance by Pete Townshend, Roger Daltry and likely their tourmates of the last several years Pino Palladino (on bass) and Zac Starkey (on drums).
"VH1 Rock Honors: The Who" will premiere on Thursday, July 17th at 9pm ET. The show is taping in Los Angeles at the Pauley Pavillion at UCLA on July 12th, so if you're going to be in the area you should keep an eye on VH1's page for ticket info - public on-sale is June 8th. While you're there check out some of the performances from last year's Rock Honors, which featured ZZ Top, Ozzy Osbourne and Genesis, among others.
In other California music news, the Raconteurs will headline this year's Treasure Island Festival which takes place on a man-made island in San Francisco Bay. Vampire Weekend and TV On The Radio will also appear at the two-day fest, which unlike many other festivals is offering both single and two-day passes. Last year's event featured Modest Mouse and Spoon, and from what we hear it was a really unique experience - check here for some cool photos.

The Who deserves this Award and is one of the All Time Greatest Bands. Bands Like the Who don't come around often. VH1 is right on - THE WHO ROCKS
