The WNEW Interview: Tea Leaf Green at Mile High Festival
On the second day of the Mile High Festival, the temperature had risen to 100 degrees. I shuffled into the sanctuary of the Elk Tent Stage to settle in for Tea Leaf Green. I’ve been handed a lot of music from them over the last few years, mostly by Phish fans who were turned onto them when they opened for Trey Anastasio during his solo tour.
The guys kept the Mile High groove going as they presented us with songs from their new album (with their relatively new bass player Reed Mathis). These guys are definitely a band you must see live to understand what they’re all about. After the set I spent some time to talk to them about their new album Raise Up The Tent which just came out in stores. Here's Part 1 of our interview - click through for more after the jump.

One of the things I really love about Tea Leaf Green is that they never play the same thing the same way twice... never. Each time they take over the stage, it’s a new experience – and they like new experiences. Listen up as Reed explains how song experimentation is a lot like sexual experimentation.
