The WNEW Interview: Grace Potter at Mile High Festival
About a year ago, This is Somewhere was dropped onto my desk by a friend with little fanfare. The album was dripping with the fusion of southern rock and jazz – a blend that enticed me to see Grace Potter & the Nocturnals perform live when they hit my hometown of New York City. To really feel what this band is all about is to see them live... Grace and the band put everything they’ve got into every performance, and their show in the Elk Tent Stage at Mile High was no different. Even in the sweltering heat of a 100 degree day in Denver, the band had everyone dancing. After the set, I spent some time with Grace to find out if we’re going to get another album anytime soon. Listen Up:
This is the first video I saw of Grace & the Nocturnals doing their thing live singing Nothing But The Water Part II recorded live at the Wakarusa Music & Camping Festival in Lawrence, Kansas. It’s a long video, but worth the watching. Dig it:
As you can see from the video, it’s a lot different live than on the CDs. . .so yeah, you need to get out to a show and see them. Since Grace & the guys are getting ready to record sometime this winter, I wanted to see what was in store for us this time around and find out if there’s any chance that some of that energy that they put out in their live shows will ever be able to be captured on their albums. Here's what they had to say:
The band is out there knocking ‘em dead right now mostly supporting the Black Crowes and hitting some other festivals along the way. To see the goodness go to http://www.gracepotter.com/ to check out when they’ll hit your town.
