Classic Recording Studios: 914 Studios
914 came out of Brooks Arthur's need to make an escape from New York. After many prosperous years in Manhattan, Arthur took his show on the road to Blauvelt, NY, just down the road from Bearsville Studios.
Just as Paul Anka was canceling a weeklong booking, a guy named Mike Appel called with looking for a place to record a guy from New Jersey named Bruce Springsteen. There ensued session work on both Greetings From Asbury Park and The Wild, The Innocent and The E-Street Shuffle (in between trips to the Carvel across the street).
Though he cut his legendary Born To Run album at the Record Plant in NYC, Born To Run (the song) was created at 914.
